3 Naked Guys From The Waist Down...
Performances at Actors Cabaret of Eugene
Music by: Michael Rupert Book And Lyrics by: Jerry Colker Directed by: Joe Zingo Produced by: Jim Roberts Cast and Crew:See List Below...
The three guys are stand up comics. Wild and crazy and very, very hip, their unique blend of intellectual and slap stick humor propels them from unpaid neophyte performers to the Johnny Carson Show, instant stardom, and their own television show. Then, commercial success evaporates the magic.
No, there is no nudity in this play! It is a musical comedy about the rise and fall of the careers of three stand-up comedians who get together and form an act. The phrase "Naked from the Waist Down" is a metaphor for the vulnerability of a stand-up comedian.
In the first act of the play, each of the three actors does his own stand-up routine. Then they get together and manage to get an appearance on the Johnny Carson show (the play is set in the mid-eighties). From Johnny Carson, they go on to their own sitcom, "Hello Fellas," about three cops in L.A., who need to dress in drag as part of their jobs, and then on to a world tour of "Hello Fellas." And then, sadly, the exploitation, the embarrassment and degradation of having to dress up as women, all becomes too much for them, and so the big crash, and how each character handles it.
