We've had a lot of excitement at ACE lately!  First we opened WHITE CHRISTMAS to sellout crowds and great reviews!  The cast quickly settled into the routine of running a show; everyone got used to how fast the costume changes are, where they need to be backstage, how long they have between entrances and how to pace their energy.  Then came last Saturday!  First, one of the braces holding a wall in place, broke in the middle of a scene change!  The play wasn't stopped, but it did call for some fast backstage work and a few, last second onstage adjustments (where did that table go?).  Then, everyone in the theater got to witness a moment of true love, when a proposal of marriage was made on the ACE stage during intermission!  Now that's what I call entertainment; falling walls, a marriage proposal, and oh yeah, WHITE CHRISTMAS!

 

The word on CATS is that it's beginning to take shape, and so far no fur balls!  The cast is in rehearsal and I hear the sound is amazing!  The costumes are now moving from the concept stage to actual construction, and anyone who ventures into the CATzone is liable to be recruited into a temporary model for one of Director/Designer Joe Zingo's amazing costumes!  Now the nitty gritty of creating theater begins - Does this color go with that material, can the actor move in these clothes, and how will the costume contrast with the shape of the wig?  A thousand questions are going to be asked between now and January 22, 2010, opening night of CATS!

Thank you to everyone who turned out for the SPELLING BEE auditions!  This was one of our best auditions ever!  The quality of the performers was very strong, and of course this makes the final casting decisions all the more difficult!  According to director Joe Zingo, he could cast the play three times over with all the talented folks who auditioned! 

 

Ten actors will be chosen for this production, and you can see who they are when THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE opens March 19, 2010.  Tickets are going on sale soon!

 

The next audition opportunity is for DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!  Audition notices will be posted next year!
